I guess it depends on what isn't regularly. I've been told that we aren't supposed to shower everyday and when we do it should only be 3-4 minutes long. (I could have 30 minute showers twice a day if I had an on demand water heater) Depending on hair and skin type, 2-3 times a week should be sufficient. Our skin and scalps don't like hot water and we could be damaging it by showering everyday. If we do shower everyday, we can strip our bodies of the natural oils, which can make our bodies create more.

i would assume these hollywood types are exercising just about everyday. if you exercise that much you need to shower everyday. otherwise you will stink.

That's one of the reasons I shower every day. I despise body odor, but if someone doesn't stink and they don't want to shower, good for them. You should clean intimate areas, but you don't always need to have a shower to do so. I've been told by more than one doctor that I shouldn't shower everyday. I'm getting better on days that I don't work out, and using dry shampoo has helped.

He's completely right, and I think it should be common sense

Showering is not the same as brushing your teeth/flossing. You have to brush teeth daily because your mouth is a mucous membrane, same as assholes, ear canals, vaginas, urethras, eyes, etc. they are made of a completely different type of tissue than skin. These are ports of entry into your body, if you were eating but not brushing daily it'd be like stuffing random organic material up your ass every day and expecting not to get sick

But your skin (especially the outer layers) is made to be a protective semi-permeable barrier to the environment. The oils that it secrets (sebum) are not just there for the fuck of it, and when you use surfactants like soap and shampoo you are stripping away these oils that your body is putting there for a reason. They're there as a lubricant to protect you from mechanical damage and as a coating to protect you from physical and chemical damage

Showering every day has become a habit because of body odor, and it's frowned upon in modern society which requires you to hold down a job and frowns upon anyone who reminds them of a hobo. But I don't think any medical doctor in the world would say that showering every day is absolutely necessary. Body odor is not going to kill you any more than perfume is going to make you healthier
