I don't have a dog in this fight but I find it extremely strange how defensive people are over Schneider & Co's work despite it receiving so much negativity for as long as the DCU has been around. Competition breed's innovation so I'm all for DC keeping Marvel on their toes.

shareI'm not a hater nor fan, but I really did like the Director's Cut, and this is coming from someone who absolutely despised Man of Steel and Batman v Superman.
shareI didn't like the original cut, but thought I'd give the director's cut a chance and was very surprised how much I liked it. It really took its time to develop the characters.

shareEternals really feels different from anything else in the MCU. A lot of ppl didn't like it, but I actually enjoyed it very much. Feels more of a slower-burn character drama compared to the spectacle popcorn films that make up the majority of the MCU.
It's a bit of a time investment, but just throwing that out there. I like MOST of the cast, and their interactions. It's still very much an epic superhero film, but I think it gets there differently than your typical one.
The only thing that breed's innovation (aka, change) is when the expected audience no longer shows up. So I don't think Marvel or DC care about the other when the only thing that matters is making movies that draw big. Much more a hardcore fan thing, and even that is overblown once you realize that they obviously consume both.
shareI really enjoyed the Nolan trilogy, the Joker and the Matt Reeves Batman movie. I liked Henry Cavill as Superman but did not care for the films he was in. Man of Steel I thought was pretty good but everything after that just seemed too “comic booky” for me. The descriptions I’ve read of the planned Gunn slate of films sounds just as “comic booky” as many of the Snyderverse films.
shareThis is gonna be just as bad in different ways. Gunn's Suicide Squad-verse may be a more cohesive vision than what we've had to date, but we all know what kind of movies this guy makes. What his attitudes are. He is no better a choice to run the show than Snyder was. The fact that there's gonna be a solo Batman series running along side his nonsense that he doesn't have any sway over says tons. Billion dollar Joker sequel is off hands too. DC is still protecting their number one property.
