Why does she always play supporting roles?

I think almost every movie I've seen her in she's the best friend of the star. She's an awesome actress, I would love to see her in the leading role.

She has several interviews where she explains this, I like the offcamera one as its an audio interview and I like her voice, but basically she has tried to get away from those roles at several times and eventually something makes her go back to it.

She swore she would never do best friend again then the writers strike happened and she needed a paycheck, her only option was to take 13 going on 30.
She says that she is looking for things beyond the supporting character roles now, she has her own show about a married couple that is falling appart (Married)on FX which is pretty good IMO, but she cant say that she wont ever do a best friend role again because at the end of the day she needs a paycheck and while having her show is great it doesnt pay all the bills.

I think its neat to spot her as a side character.

I have seen playing for keeps and two and a half men multiple times and I didnt know she was the irish woman/ex wife until imdb pointed this out for example even though I have watched most of archer at the time I didnt associate her with these characters until this summer.
