This is England '86 (TV Mini-Series)

They've already started doing the rehearsals, pre-shoots and costume fittings and start filming next week (29/03/10). Joe will be walking straight from Emmerdale into this!

Looks like there could be some good stuff coming up for Joe as Woody. Shane Meadows revealed on his forum that Woody was working his way up the management ladder in a supermarket and preparing to marry Lol. However, the wedding will not go ahead (no word on why). In an interview with Thomas Turgoose, he also said that there was interesting stuff happening with Woody (and Milky and Lol) and that every single character has a really strong story.

I'm really excited for this! (I love all the gang). Everyone involved seems very enthusiastic about it.

I'm calling an affair between Milky and Lol right now!

Apperently some characters aren't returning. Do you know which might not? Thanks for the link!

reply

I'm not sure. I know for a fact that Woody, Milky, Lol and Gadget are all back. I'm pretty sure that Smell is too and probably Kezz and Kelly. Is it possible that Jack O'Connell might not want to return as Pukey? I hope he does. Maybe Meggy? I think all the main ones are back though.

Combo returns too, but Paddy Considine will sadly not be able to take the role Shane wanted him to as he is busy elsewhere.

I 'bumped' into Joe Gilgun and Andrew Shimm yesterday (31/03/2010) in Sheffield, obviously to do with the filming of this new project. He even spoke to me lol, so I for one will be waiting for it to come on our screens.....at the moment i'm home and watching This is England on FilmFour......great film which will, if it hasnt already, attain cult status. Thnks for the opportunity to reply.

Really? Lucky you!

He give any hints about what's to come? I'm glad he's back in a role where he can prove he's a decent actor.

This is England is apparently being studied in a lot of schools - even in Scandinavia. I think that says a lot about its quality!

Apparently it is true that not everyone is coming back, but it is being kept secret who that is.

However, I have found out that the series is supposed to be airing in September and that the gang will have scooters!

Check out this place for on set photos of the "This is England 86" cast. There are a couple of Joe Gilgun sporting Woody's new "Mod" look. What do we think? (Ignore the dummy and the unknown pregnant woman):
