Glad I'm not alone in my feelings on Laurence Anyways! I haven't seen Say Anything but I certainly agree that there are a lot of wonderful things about Laurence Anyways: it's style and as I say I really like overall what it has to say and also Laurence's desires for the world. It's just that relationship that I don't really feel. And it's the only film of Dolan's where something like this that I don't feel occurs.

I can now add that Mommy is easily Dolan's most affecting work - a true emotional mangle (In a great way!!) and, as such I think probably his best (although I still totally adore Mommy, I Killed my Mother and Tom at the Farm!! ) I think that in Mommy, Xavier has every single thing - actors, style, plot all working completely towards delivering emotion all of the time. It's laugh out loud funny sometimes, but so devastating and heartbreaking by the end that it's hard to even remember that for the most part it wasn't a tragic film.

So, now I'd go:

1. Mommy
2. I Killed My Mother
3. Tom at the Farm
4. Heartbeats
5. Laurence Anyways
