so how should they handle Snow White?

It's tricky because it's such an integral part of the tale.

They can't make them average height because then it'd be a lack of representation thing.

And fwiw, he talked about them all living in a cave together. They only worked there, they didn't live there.

I'm guessing they'll now become *former* miners, and they each have a job that's further away. But every 7 years they gather in the forest for a reunion. They each have their own cottage, and they'll happen to have a guest cottage where Snow can stay.

Change it to ' Soot Black and the Seven Social Justice Warriors ! ' And coincidentally there are seven of the LGBTQIA categories so they can have one from each.

I want it to be a bloody and epic tale of seven dvergr who get stranded in Midgard, befriend a human girl and then have to avenge her death.
There is no happily ever after. The movie ends with the queen blood-eagled and crows feasting on her flesh.

Why not have an African-American actoress play her and call it "Jet Black and the Seven Average-Size Non-Menstruating Persons"?

It's really sad that it seems this post is just a magnet for both sides of the political spectrum to bitch. That was not the intent at all. My ponderings were sincere, and not meant to stoke the ire of or make fun of anyone, woke snowflakes or repugnant elephants alike.

One fucking sincere answer would be appreciated.

Blame Disney. If they had just made a live-action version of their old animated movie that stayed mostly true to its original inspiration, that never would have happened. It would just have been another movie that people would have judged on its own merits. But as soon as Disney decided they were going to prioritize "representation" (again), instead of just telling a good story about interesting characters, they started this ball rolling.

And I think it also helps that this is coming along when we do at least seem like we might be seeing the beginnings of the anti-woke backlash. That would make any movie featuring the kind of ahistorical, forced diversity that audiences are getting sick of more of a target for said backlash.

They made two remakes of "Snow White" about 10 years ago, "Mirror Mirror" with Julia Roberts as the Wicked Queen, and "Snow White and the Huntsman" with Charlize Theron, and some short actors as the Seven Dwarves, and some dipshit girls as Snow White herself.

Honestly, Snow White herself is the real problem with modernizing this story, and not just because of her name, I mean in the Disney movie she just runs away and does housework for the dwarves and waits for a man to carry her off, and lets the Wicked Stepmother keep the kingdom that's hers by right - not exactly a compelling personality! Both the modern films tried to change that by making the girls try to grab their realm back from the usurping stepmother, neither film doing it terribly well, but at least they tried to make Snow White someone the audience wants to root for.

Which she isn't in the dreamlike original fairy tale, in the original story she runs away, and then she hides, and then she lies around in a coma, and then something happens and everything is okay again. The heroine of the story doesnt do much.

Easy - cast Peter as the snow white, while the dwarves will be played by hot young women.

They already shit all over the movie when they decided to cast a brown hispanic as the girl... She was called Snow White because of the color of her skin. At this point they need to change the movie to Sandy Brown and the Seven Mexican Midget Wrestlers. At least then it would make sense and it might even make a half decent comedy.

I think the name "Snow White" refers more to her innocent, sweet character than her actual color; however, since it's a northern European tale, it's pretty safe to assume she's fair-skinned.

No, it really is because her skin is white as snow. In the version written down by the Brothers Grimm in 1812, Snow White's mother (a queen), after pricking her finger on a needle as she's sewing, during winter, as snow is falling outside, says ""How I wish that I had a daughter that had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair as black as ebony."

After giving birth to her, and seeing that she got her wish, she names the baby Snow White before she dies.

So Disney decided to cast a "person of color" to play a northern European character named Snow White explicitly because she's literally the whitest of white, you don't get any whiter than this, white people.

But people are European ancestry are the only ones it is A okay to practice "cultural appropriation" from these days, so here we are.
