Dissapointed

I enjoyed watching Caroline Dhavernas in Wonderfall, even thought to myself "Gee, what a great artist", so I decided to check out some of her previous work... And I encountered Edge of Madness

Edge od Madness isn´t a good film, but the part that dissapointed me, was that Caroline Dhavernas couldn´t pull the character she is given, uses a poorly British accent that even a latino can do it better. And her perfomance wasn´t very good enough.

I have seen another 2 movies she appeared which I wont comment because she doesn´t have the main role.

Either it has two options, she has become a more mature actrees and madurated since EOM to Wonderfalls, or Wonderfalls was her life role,

I´ll hope the first one

I thought she was excellent in Edge of Madness. And by the way if you watched the movie you would know that she was playing a French character speaking English. Since French is her first language, the accent was natural. Maybe you should rewatch the movie.

reply

If that´s the case then why in Wonderfalls the fake British accent has gone?

And that´s funny because Montreal,Quebec is one of the cities in Canda where people speak the two idioms perfectly (French/English)

reply

In Edge of Madness, Caroline played a French Canadian with her natural French Canadian accent. In Wonderfalls she played an American with an American accent. There was no British accent in either the movie or the TV series either real or fake. WATCH THE MOVIE. SHE IS PLAYING A FRENCH-CANADIAN. SHE IS FRENCH-CANADIAN. GET A CLUE!

The only thing I found redeeming about Edge of Madness, was all the naked scenes. The film was poorly written. I sure hope she works with more good writers like Tim Minear.

I didn't say that the movie was excellent, but I thought Caroline did an excellent job in it. The movie's not that good, but I really don't think that's the fault of cast. I don't think the movie is terrible, but it could have been much better.

reply

You like the actress so you defend her movies... Excelent job, I wouldn´t call so, Perhaps I was to reckless to say that she hardly pull the role, what I meant was that she couldn´t pull the accent required.

It wasn´t her fault it was the writers fault.

But then you thought she was trying to do a British accent (why, I don't know, it's certainly never indicated that they're in England, on the contrary, it's set in Manitoba...and then there is the whole issue of the accent not sounding even remotely British) rather than the French-Canadian accent that not only can she pull off, but which she ACTUALLY HAS...you know, from BEING FRENCH CANADIAN and everything...you understand this, yes?...that's how she talks, she was, however, doing an accent (and flawlessly so) in Wonderfalls.

reply

Perhaps you´re right I don´t know, you see because neither in Wonderfalls [Post work of Edge of Madness] and Lost and Delirious [Previous work of EOM] the way she speaks... his English sound very natural but in EOM it isn´t
