It's really a load of shit that....

Pat Benatar is not in the Rock and Roll of Fame but people like Whitney Houston and Madonna are - and here is what really pisses me off about it: Pat Benatar has been around longer than both and actually sings rock and roll.

Those assholes at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame need to be bugged about this over and over again...

It is very odd that she has not gotten in. You'd think that she would be an obvious choice.

I think it comes down to money and selecting non-rock and rollers in the hopes it will pull in more music fans from outside of rock and roll. Still, it really pisses me off when genuine rockers are jumped over for those that aren't rock and rollers at all.

It also pisses me off the powerful and influential rock and rollers don't say much about this.

So what? The rrhof long ago lost any prestige it once had, and it didn't really have a lot of prestige for very long. It's all about politics, favors, and probably a bit of Weinsteining required if you want to be inducted.

Baseball's Hall of Fame is an HONOR, the rock and roll hall of fame (small letters) is a crock of shit.

I would love to be a rock star only to decline an induction vote. Oh man...

Perfect. If only someone would. I think a member of Rush was unhappy about finally making it in but was outvoted by the band (IIRC).

So someone decides to create an organization called Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and suddenly they are credible and have some authority? I say they never had prestige. The guy who did this (I have no desire to learn his name) is just like the guy who realized that no one had a Copyright on the Bible and grabbed it. No one should care about who isn't in it. In fact, I think there is greater honor for NOT being in it.

I don't know if they film those things live (don't watch *any* awards shows), but imagine if you will an act called up on stage after winning, and telling the rrhof to stick their "award" up their collective asses. Imagination porn..

I don't watch award shows either (not since the early 90s) but I sure would tune in for that. Maybe even take that occasion to announce their personal creation of "The Real Rock Hall of Fame." Then proceed to induct ALL rock and roll bands in existence who have ever been on the Billboard top 100 while leaving off the obvious non rock bands. And do it all at once. No drawn out process. No money grabbing ceremonies. Maybe a brick museum with an archive.

I don't know if all of them were vocally against it, but rather ambivalent about it, probably Neil Peart more so than Geddy & Alex. Alex himself made fun of the whole process with his induction "speech" that you can find with a search or on YT.

The Sex Pistols famously gave a giant middle finger to their induction, not showing up at the ceremony, and sending a scathing letter to the RRHOF to boot!!

There is still needing before her with Patsy Cline and Sheryl Crow.

reply

Yes. Chrissie Hynde, Joan Jett, and Pat blow the doors off rock & roll. 2 are in (Jett should be in on her own or with The Runaways never mind Blackhearts) and Pat is not? Hell is for...the R&R HOF I guess.

Agreed!
