Well, he lived to a ripe old age for a rocker!
The Yardbirds!
Yes, he did! When you consider that Duane Allman died at 24, Hendrix at 27, etc., he had a pretty good run getting to 78. He was always so skinny...but what a guitar player he was.
shareHe was before my time, but the Yard birds were a great group. I was born in the late 60's.
shareI could not stand him myself... Hi Ho Silverlining is one of the worst songs in existence.
shareI've never heard that song before. I think he was great with The Yardbirds and Rod Stewart. He did a really nice acoustic version of "Greensleeves" that I learned to play from a guitar magazine years ago.
I remember seeing him in the video of the Rod Stewart song "Infatuation" (he played the guitar solo). He really was one of the greats...he was pretty reclusive and shy, from what I remember reading about him.
There is nothing like the song Big Block.
He should get immortality just for that one song ... he squeezes stuff out of that guitar no other guitarist possible could.
Damn. :(
He could pick up any old guitar in the world, start playing, & you knew it was him. His whole sound & tone came out of his fingers fretting & picking. One of a kind.
RIP Jeff Beck
Agreed 100%. He really did have a distinctive style of playing...a very influential guitarist also.
