Not that he would be saving any more franchises after Star Wars so this is wishful thinking.

It was talked about in real life. Don't try to rewrite history. The truth is any star wars film will make a ton of cash despite the quality and fans hating on it. Natalie Portman has also stated that the films almost ruined her career as well.
The thing about the prequels fans b*tched about the most was the cheesy dialogue written by Lucas. I'm just going to assume you were born in 2001 if you don't recall this.
Disney's star wars may very well be utter crap too but as history has shown with the prequels it will still break box office while fans continue to cry about it.
