shareIt's not so much that he ruins the series he touches, it's that he Xerox-copies an earlier installment and passes it off as a new episode. ST Into Darkness=Wrath of Khan rejigged. SW The Force Awakens=A New Hope rejigged. If imitation is flattery, then this guy needs to stop flattering.
shareJust going by Star Trek and TFA, bloody awful director. Where is the character development to care about? Gore Verbinski/Michael Bay level director, but that is what Hollywood want now - stuff and flash bang.
shareReally? After over nearly two decades of complaining about Jar Jar Binks, Midi-chlorians and phony CGI, some people actually have the nerve to call out J.J. Abrams for supposedly ruining Star Wars? Wow, the internet really is full of whiny, ungrateful brats these days...

shareThe Star Wars went from bad to directly down the drain. You can't even compare the prequels with the JJ Abrams abomination. But then again, you have an Alice avatar, what do you know about good taste?

This should be entertaining, please elaborate?
what do you know about good taste?
Clearly better than you! And based on The Force Awakens' massive worldwide gross of 2.066 billion, critical acclaim and 8.2 rating here on IMDB, your opinion that "Star Wars went from bad to directly down the drain" may not be as factual as you claim.
Why do you rate box office money as an indicator of quality?
Box office just means a lot of people were duped into paying to see a 'beep' movie.
Do you like quality or do you tell yourself: well I didn't enjoy it but it made a lot of money so it must be good."
I bet you think every millionaire/billionaire is smart don't you? No, they usually lie/cheat/ steal their way to riches like every other crook or they hit a lucky streak.
Good quality content cannot be counted in terms of money but how it stands up to repeated views.
Can you watch a JJ Ruins movie over and over the way people watched E.T or Close Encounters or Raiders of the Lost Ark?
Those movies are still enjoyable, watchable, likable even as outdated as they are.
Grow up.
Grow up.
Hah! "Grow up". Are you sure I'm the one acting immature here? You clearly haven't read my reply properly. See below...

Sure, it's not uncommon for bad films to become successful. However, 2.066 billion is a milestone in profit and movies rarely come close to making that much, usually (if not always) it's a sign that people are satisfied with the finished product and are seeing it on repeat viewings. If it really was as terrible as you people claim, it probably would've only performed strongly on it's opening weekend before experiencing a huge drop in it's second week, which it didn't.
And as I said above, it's not just the box office numbers that are high but also the overall approval rating. This film received mass critical acclaim from both professional critics and audiences (fans and non-fans) in general, and it currently holds a high rating of 8.2 here on IMDB.
You may not care for Abrams' Star Wars, but it's clearly achieved what it set out to do and most fans are pleased with it. So perhaps you people should just accept that you're a vocal minority.
