The last few months I've heard so many people ask who he is.

I'm not saying the dude is Elvis, but I'm still baffled how so many people don't know who he is.

reply

Here in Europe he is very well- known, but I think in North America he never was very famous.

reply

I'm Canadian and knew who he was over 20 years ago. I always assumed he was at least somewhat big over the years.

I've thought the same. There are plenty of singers I don't think I've heard any of their songs. but I know who they are.

reply

Exactly. I can't name one Luther Vandross song but know who he is even though he died 20 hears ago.

reply

I genuinely pity you for not at least knowing Never Too Much.

reply

Nope. But I'm sure there are songs of his that I heard but don't know it's him.

reply

Probably. I think I'd be the same. Never Too Much is an absolute classic and I know So Amazing from some Now compilation when I was a kid. After that...

Although, I was surprised to learn last night that he was also singer in Chic.

reply

Same here, but I couldn't even name a single Taylor Swift song.

reply

I can only name two.

reply

Weirdly, I've often said that if someone put a gun to my head and said they'd pull the trigger unless I could name a Taylor Swift song, I'd be a goner!

Never made much impact in the USA, did he? So they don't know who he is. Because when it comes to things happening beyond their own borders, most Americans are like an uncontacted tribe in the Amazon Basin.

reply

😆

reply

He even had that song with Nicole Kidman to raise his popularity which was a cover of two Americans artists.

reply

I think the music video of "feel " was with Daryl Hannah and some cowboys, in an attempt to increase his popularity in the USA.

reply

They still make music videos?

reply

It was in the year 2002, more or less.

reply

Ah, yeah. Nicole. I'd forgotten about that one.

Of course, I prefer the one he did with the other Aussie. And that's purely based on a musical assessment and nothing whatsoever to do with fancying Kylie a lot more than I fancy Nicole Kidman. I'd never be that shallow. *whistles*

reply

I believe this is the first I've heard of him.

reply

He's not a rapper so America ain't interested. I suggest the people screaming "we don't know who that is" use Google and if they haven't heard of that use Ask Jeeves.

reply

So sorry your washed up late 90's pop star isn't a worshipped idol in the USA. Hell, he's SO WELL KNOWN in the UK that he had to make himself into a monkey as a selling point...and it STILL BOMBED.

reply

He was known outside the UK. From Wikipedia:

Five of his albums have also topped the Australian albums chart, and has sold 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

reply

According to Billboard, he is the 117th best selling artist of all time. I mean, that's great and all, but hardly the juggernaut Brits and Ozzies are making him out to be. Ayumi Hamasaki is the 104th best selling artist of all time, where's her biopic? Did you know she's a her? What?! You haven't heard of her?? Y'know the world exists outside of the UK, right???

reply

Doesn't Billboard only count sales in the USA?

reply

If you got a dollar every time, you could Take That money to the bank!

reply

Nice

reply

I think hes Robin Williams son
