Wilmer was born in 1980. That would have made him about 23 when he was dating 17 year old Lindsay Lohan. He would have been 21 or so when he was dating an approximately 17 year old Mandy Moore.

What's the deal with that?

It's not like he couldn't have dated within his own age.

And why did Moore's parents allow that to happen?

We know Lohan's mom probably just didn't care.

I like him, but there's something kind of pervy about a man dating high school kids.

You are half right. Males do NOT mature much during the years between 17 and 23. But... females DO. Believe me when I tell you, what a young woman wants when she is 17, is NOT the same thing as what she will want at 23. Us females make a huge maturity jump during those years.
