Yes, because her behavior on that set was so sophisticated.
No, you both are wrong. How she behaved, especially in the car with her co-workers, was truly disgusting, unprofessional behavior. I am embarrassed for her, and I think less of her for it. She was wrong for that, and you are wrong for thinking it is acceptable.
Spoken as one who has never, ever lost their temper. How saintly you must be! I'm in awe of such divine judgement!!
I'm sad that you would impugn nearly 40 years of outstanding work due to one bad day she had on a troubled set four years ago. Plus I don't consider her outburst "acceptable" as much as understandable, relatable, and so very human.
I'm sad that you "think less" of such a wonderful actress merely because she exibited human behavior in such an uncomfortable and frustrating situation. You do realize that she was not even allowed to get out of the prop car to cool down and regain her composure, right?
I'm speaking as someone who has lost their temper a few times at work, and who has vented that frustration to those who caused it and to those who contributed to it, although never with swear words; there were no resultant ill consequences, either, because each time it became obvious that I was correct, and the offending situations were modified to correct the inconsistencies that I pointed out.
At certain times a show-stopping verbal objection is required to achieve the success of the entire project. And that is what Lily did. She was being the 'squeaky wheel', as they say.
Yes, I considered the Huckabees movie an artistic success, and I still do, mainly due to Jude Law's funny and enlightened performance. Although I can see that the director is apparently an abusive jerk, I still like his movies. Wrap your head around that, if you can. (It's called "open-mindedness" - look into it!)
BTW, if the filming of the Huckabees office scene occurred before the filming of the automobile scene, then anything Lily said in the prop car was perfectly fine, because after the director called her the C word, any & all restraint on her part is merely voluntary.
She would have been justified in having the director fired for his verbal sexual abuse. He crossed a line that she did not.
