Tell me why he's funny?
Can you tell me how he's funny? And this teamcoco?
shareHe can be funny, but he's often not. He was best as a writer for other shows instead of being on camera trying to score laughs. And as a performer he was funniest in the 90's when he had some really smart people writing for him.
shareI personally think he's very funny but I also can see why his humor doesn't appeal to everyone. He was best suited for the late night show where he had a solid and loyal audience but when he moved to the Tonight Show, it was obvious there were changes made to appeal to a wider audience and it didn't work (it didn't help that he wasn't given enough of a chance to find his footing). His TBS show was more of a return to the lower budget and niche comedy audience of his late night show.
shareI couldn't possibly, showbiz is a funny thing. Why did Jay Leno get more flak than him?
shareHe's like a Leno or Letterman lite. He never should have hosted The Tonight Show but he does seem to fit on TBS..at least he's got some experience under his belt.
shareId take Conan as a host over Fallon.
shareTrue, he also isn't too overbearing and doesn't do the whole fake laughter thing like Jimmy Fallon and James Corden do. He also doesn't dedicate the entire show to repetitively bashing Trump like Colbert and Oliver, those guys are like teachers pets for the network.
Incidentally, this thread make me like Conan more.
I think Conan is the best of all current late night hosts but honestly I feel late night TV died the day Late Night with David Letterman ended.
shareIt died when Johnny Carson left. No one since has come within 100 miles of Carson.
shareThat’s very true
shareAnybody remember when Leno took over for Johnny he would repeat the punchline in his jokes during his monologue? It took him a few years to stop doing that and I thought he did a fine job then, at least with the monologue. He looked tired of it all towards the end.
shareI never thought Leno was funny at all. I thought Conan and letterman were much funnier. Not a jay witch hunt, I just didn’t think he was funny
shareHis style of humor is pretty standard fare if you ask me. I don't think he's unfunny, but what I do find annoying about him and practically every other late night talk show host is that he follows that new modicum of kissing every guest's ass like his life depended on it. David Letterman could be relentless with his guests back in the 80s and he made quite a few uncomfortable when he brought up salient subject matter related to them.
He's not as bad as Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, but Late Night TV in general has turned into an extension of of a movie trailer or TV show promotion. The days of Dick Cavett are long gone.
Can he tell you why you’re funny?
shareTo me he's just sort of bland.
Team Coco was started by Tom Hanks on one of the shows, trying in a joking way to drum up support for the Cone man.
