Subjective opinion

and possibly contentious however, I was watching The Living Daylights last night and found myself thinking that Maryam d'Abo was probably the most beautiful of Bond leading ladies. Please note I'm not claiming she's the best actress or the most watchable one or in the most memorable of Bond movies. But in terms of simple photogenic beauty I think she's the most striking.

reply

We all have phases.

reply

This is true. But I will remain firm in my conviction - at least until the next time I watch Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies.

reply

I fell in love with Olivia d'Abo in Conan the Destroyer (1984). She was fifteen at the time (but I was younger...)

reply

Very understandable. Never occurred to me to look before but it turns out that Olivia is the first cousin once removed of her father's cousin Maryam d'Abo. Now I'm wondering what the rest of the family looks like.

reply

Olivia was nothing short of stunning during her younger days. Her looks were definitely downplayed during her time on "The Wonder Years".

reply

Don't agree at all. I think she's one of the worst (and least appealing) "bond girls" in the whole series.

reply

And thank you for supplying us with any arguments to support why you think she is the least appealing Bond girl. Hey, the floor is wide open. Regale us with your logic, wit and taste. Dazzle us with your rhetoric. In short, defend your statement like an adult.

I won’t hold my breath.

reply

"appeal" is entirely subjective. There's nothing to support it one way or another other than a personal opinion. And my opinion stands.

reply

It is not entirely subjective. The difference between a mere reviewer and a formal critic—is that the reviewer will give you an opinion and a critic will give you his or her assessment of (in this case) how a/he defines beauty and how and why this woman fits those cruteria. You Tell is what it is that appeals to YOU. It’s not a hard question, bub.

I’m still not holding my breath.

reply

In my opinion, and compared to many other "Bond girls", she has no sex appeal and no charm. Others may feel differently, And yeah, that is entirely subjective. Bub.

reply

Once again, you are too lazy or ill educated to define terms like “charm” and “sex appeal” neither of which is subjective. You just don’t know what you’re doing and you want to fit in with the other cretins on sites like this. Enjoy. I’m done with you. I had a spare 3 minutes.

reply

Done my ass. You're the king of giving people what for a year or more after the fact. Go dig up some more old posts to take down, you wordsmith.

reply

I always found her to be average looking. However, "The Living Daylights" is my favorite Bond film, and part of the reason behind that, is because it REALLY feels as if Bond, and Kara are falling in love. With the exception of "On her Majesty's Secret Service, I never felt like Bond loved anyone. So, TLD was a nice departure from Bond just banging everyone he came into contact with. I was actually really disappointed that Kara didn't return in the next Bond film. I never felt that way about any other Bond girl. So, the filmmakers in casting Maryam d'Abo definitely did something right.

reply

See, “agent” Albert? Enigmatic gives us an actual, cogent reason why he responded to D’Abo. That is criticism, not reviewing.

reply

I thought so at the time. She's still at the top IMO

reply

ngl nobody did it better than d'Abo
