When she stopped making her show, her perception changed from 'woman of the people' to a meddling billionaire

Her story was 'poor black girl rises up ladder of journalism, creating her own show, and connecting a nation.'

As a consequence of that, she got very rich. But it was just a perk, and must deserved. A woman of color making money on her own show and brand.

Also, she was a humanitarian, helping people's life problems and even doing charity work in Africa.

People used to say 'you should be president!', that's how much she was seen as 'a woman of the people.'

But when her show finished, she lost that connection. She however didn't lose her riches. She would then stick her nose in business where people felt it wasn't welcome.

Example: Obama's election in 2008. Meddling in politics is a good way to alienate people.
Example: Promoting, along with Gayle King, Michael Jackson's accusers with prime time interviews and her magazine promoting an article on the accusations with ' “It's time to say goodbye to Michael Jackson—one last time.” Trying to cancel another black icon was absurd.
Example: Interviewing Harry and Meagan and creating further problems for the monarchy.
Example: Asking people to donate to Maui wild fire recovery (despite being a billionaire), on the tail of accusations of her using a private fire fighting crew to keep her mansion safe.

She has managed to turn the people against her.
