Sad and unexpected news... a tremendous actress. I still remember being chilled to the bones by her terrifying portrayal of the ultimate overprotective mum in Mother Love. She was also the best Bond girl ever, and one of the standouts in Game of Thrones. She will be greatly missed - R.I.P.

RIP. Thank you for being a brilliant Mrs Danvers in 'Rebecca' (1997 TV) and for being Mrs Bradley in the mysteries with Neil Dudgeon as your chauffeur.

Rest in Peace.

Farewell, Mrs. Peel, you're still needed.

reply

That's unfortunate.
The last thing I saw her in was "Victoria" as the queen's lady in waiting or whatever you call it, and she totally owned the role.

82 years old. Kept acting almost to the end. She was excellent in Game of Thrones.

RIP.

Curiously enough, I saw her on an episode of The Avengers yesterday evening as Mrs. Peel, helping John Steed foil a plot to blow up the PM with a train bomb. Diana Rigg was great as her Game of Thrones character, but I remember most for her role as Edwina Lionheart in the excellent horror movie Theatre of Blood, with Vincent Price as her hammy Shakespearean actor father.

RIP indeed, Diana Rigg :(

I always got the feeling that she & Vincent had enormous fun with that film!

reply

Most definitely :)

Vincent Price always took such joyous gusto in hamming it up. It often helped to save some otherwise mediocre films ... though Theatre of Blood is a mordant gem. :)
