Got his entire shtick from comedienne, Alice Ghostley

I just saw an old Johnny Carson interview where he claimed he had no idea where his "originality" came from. That is not true. His facial expressions, mannerisms and sniveling way of speaking was basically him doing Alice Ghostley, a female comic actress he had worked with starting out: https://thelifeandtimesofhollywood.com/who-copied-who-paul-lynde-and-alice-ghostley/

Ghostley was three years older, but they were professional contemporaries. They both got their first big break in "New Faces of 1952".

I think his "schtick" was considerably different than Alice Ghostley's. What made Paul Lynde so funny was his delivery of his lines... not just what he said, but how he said them. He was a lot funnier than Alice Ghostley, IMO (no offense to her...I just loved Paul Lynde, though).

He was from Mt. Vernon, OH, not too far from Columbus. I think he was buried in Mt. Vernon, if I remember correctly, and I'm thinking I might make a visit to Mt. Vernon sometime this Fall to visit his gravesite. He was such a star when I was a kid...died way too soon, unfortunately.
