- Lange could be a double nominee, only this time, she could be Lead in a Comedy (Wild Oats) and Supporting for a Drama (The Gambler), which is the total opposite from her 1982 award's year. Plus, Shirley MacLaine has never got to defend her title since winning for "Terms of Endearment!" Also, Harvey Weinstein released "August: Osage County" at the end of last December, and it also contained 2 Lead Actress Oscar Winners!

Lange could also be a TRIPLE NOMINEE at the Golden Globes:


1) Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie: "AHS: Freak Show"

2) Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy: "Wild Oats"

OR Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture: "Wild Oats"

3) Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture: "The Gambler"

She could also sneak in w/"In Secret," but I was told from a "higher up" that the film wouldn't make a splash anywhere ... so I guess we shall have to wait and see on that one!!!

Actually it has been done one time before. Teresa Wright, in 1943, was nominated for Best Actress ("Pride of the Yankees") and Best Supporting Actress for "Mrs. Miniver". She won for "Mrs. Miniver."

Lange was nominated, in the same year, for a COMEDY and a DRAMA. Do you mean to tell me that either "Pride of the Yankees" or "Mrs. Miniver" was a Comedy?

Fun Fact: "Tootsie" still remains a crowning achievement for Lange & Hoffman, as it remains on the AFI Top List of the 100 Greatest Films of All Time!

I think the point the OP was trying to make is that no one according to their research has been nominated for both a COMEDY and DRAMA in the same nomination season. (:
