His career was basically over after 1993

I would have been 3 years old but I swear, they did a sort of "cancelling" of him. I know now he had two albums come out after the allegations but he had to go abroad to have success with that because he apparently was not charting in the U.S. and then there was the other attempt in 2001 that was a total failure in the United States but sold modestly over seas.

It's just wild to me that his career was basically dead 16 years before his death. And in those 16 years There was endless chaos, another court case and a psychiatric break down. He absolutely lost his mind when he lost his career. He may have died in 2009 but his career death was in 1993.

Well yeah but they are going to whitewash all that with the biopic to keep making money off of his catalouge. That is all they care about.

After he got caught in the bed with the first boy it was over. He had another attempt in 2001 with a comeback but it was a failure. The album sucked and his face was harrowing looking from years of excessive surgery and he was literally cross dressing at this point. Then a public display of psychotic behavior starts like dangling an infant he adopted off a balcony. Then then gets accused of molesting another boy, this time a cancer patient, and giving the kid alcohol and roofies and kidnapping his family at the ranch.

Then he goes through a criminal trial, is found not guilty and exits the U.S for a few years only to come back and drop dead.

What a fucking insane, train wreck life. The biopic won't be mentioning any of that. Nooooo. I heard it will end in the late 80's as far as the story line.

With his nephew playing him I can't imagine them wanting to show the more unflattering moments of his life.

I'd agree with 1995, being when HIStory was released. Even though it wasn't a great album, it did have some significant and successful singles. But that was pretty much the end of his worthwhile output. Blood on the Dance Floor isn't worth mentioning and Invincible was a dud.

HIStory was the only reason why I say 1995. I was just a kid, but I remember the hype around it.

Michael Jackson's career was far from ever being over. OP is being a hyperbolic clown (Who's clearly an obsessed Michael Jackson hater, judging by this person's numerous unhinged thread topics) who clearly doesn't have a firm understanding of the real history. Speaking of History, that was a huge event in the U.S. & his tour was hugely successful. Invincible was an obligatory album that that may have only been a modest success by his standards & he still completely sold out his tour right before his death

I attended a MJ's concert during his "dangerous tour" , I think in the year 1992 (maybe 1993). A wonderful show.

I don't think the child molestation allegations had everything to do with his decline in his music career. He did have some success but nowhere like in the 80s. I think a big part of it is that the music industry changed radically in the 90s, so his sound/style was becoming "dated" by then.

I think a good example is Nirvana's "Nevermind" album that beat out "Dangerous". Nirvana was more huge than MJ back in early 90s. And this was pre- child molestation allegations. Grunge was becoming more popular and MJ's style didn't fit with that.

I agree with this. I think he got caught in a bad loop - he was too big and, on top of that, too eccentric to change, on a downward spiral, yet still too loved and popular to just crash and burn. He could have gone and had a great writing and production career, like Prince for instance, but that would be beneath his status.
