Richard Harris, The best dumbledore?

Of course, he fits the description in book one. It wrenches my heart out to see Micheal Gambon as Dumbledore in POA and above... I write harry potter fan fictions and only ever write dumbledore as Richard Harris.
I miss him!

I know its hard to see a different dumbledore, Harris was Dumbledore when I saw ss, he was what i saw when i read the books, he was perfect, at least to me.

Harris was the best thing about those films, without him the whole affair has lost it's gravitas. Gambon is a poor replacment.

Not the best...simply WAS dumbledore...and with gambon as being the only replacement its hardly a real question...this man doesnt know a think about dumbeldores character and harris embodied it perfectly...

I agree--Harris was brilliant as Dumbledore! He wasn't too old or calm as some say but he was probably just as JKR intended him to be! He had the twinkle in his eyes and ACTUALLY WORE THE GLASSES! He even showed Dumbledores' eccentricity perfectly in that one scene where he ate the jelly beans in SS and said "Alas, earwax!"
Gambon is bipolar Dumbledore or something! The whole scene with HAARREHHDIDJAPUTYAHNEMITTHEGOBLETOFFIAH!? makes me cringe at how WRONG it is! I'm surprised no one bothered mentioning to him that he was portraying the character completely wrong! The only scenes where he did a fairly good job were in PoA when he was talking about dreams when harry was "asleep" and when they came back from the time turner sequence and he was like, "did what? goodnight." XD
I think if Gambon actually made an effort AND READ THE BOOKS (yes, he has NOT read the books >.

I blame Gambon's failure to portray him on his not having read the books >.<

I'm so glad you said that!!! It's been bugging me for a long time! When someone is 115 years old he will need his glasses all the time! And I hate his grayhish beard that just looks dirty.

And the hole part when he attacks Harry after his name comes out of the goblet! WTF!!! The hole point of Dumbledore is that he's always calm, to the point of beeing a little detached! He doesn't need to scream or attack students, he can do occlumency!

I realy hate Gambon's interpretation! He just looks like an old #%?%$"!@ When I first saw the third movie I had to re-read the book, so that he didn't change my good opinion of Dumbledore! He's my favorite carater in the books but now, thanks to Gambon, he's my least favorite carater in the movies!

Richard Harris understood Dumbledore, were his power was, from his presence! Well at least we had a REAL Dumbledore in the first two movies!
