An icon of European cinema.

Great lover of women and dogs.

He was truly great. But I have to admit that I already thought he was dead.
RIP.

reply

Yeah, like Snake Plissken.

reply

He introduced me to Zorro.

RIP

reply

Zorro is the coolest!

reply

Le samourai is a rare 10/10 from me.

reply

Same as Il Gattopardo.

reply

RIPđź•ŻGauche (Red Sun 1971)

reply

My favorite.
There was nothing like Le Samourai.
Purple Noon, La Piscine, Un Flic, Mr. Klein, Two Men in Town, Circle Rouge.
So good in Melville movies. He and Belmondo - all time movie stars and actors. Truly great.

reply

R.I.P. Alain Repose en Paix ! He was the "James Dean meets Clint Eastwood" of French cinema. He stood out in Rocco and His Brothers, Red Circle and other movies.

reply

He was in his own category and at the top of it. As was Belmondo. Why does have to be James Dean meets Clint”?

reply

A mixture of James Dean and Clint Eastwood: Alain Delon had that innocent beautiful boyish look of James Dean and like Eastwood he also took part in many action movies, such as Zorro and cop movies.

reply

Dean was the inspiration for a lot of actors. I know Delon liked him. But who he really admired was John Garfield and Jean Marais.

I just like to think of Alain Delon as one of a kind. No one before him. No one after. Not connected to anyone. He shines in his own glory. You could argue he might even be better than Dean and Eastwood.

reply

Oh, that is too bad. Rest In Peace, M. Delon. I liked him a lot in La Piscine (The Swimming Pool) with Romy Schneider (1968).

reply

RIP Alain Delon. One of the giants of French cinema. My favourite film of his is The Burned Barns (Les Granges Brûlées, 1973) with Simone Signoret.

reply

And another one with Simone Signoret - La veuve Couderc.
