Of course there is dutch lineage in South Africa. If you listen to Dutch language the sound is quite guttural and flat in parts which you can hear in the average South African accent but I don't hear that in Embeth's accent. The Australian accent is supposed to be derived from a mixture of Cockney and Irish. The New Zealand accent is something else. I find it the harshest to listen to, but it varies from region to region, it has a heavy South Pacific Islander influence. Russell Crowe's accent varies from correct Australian to a bit of a drawl. No trace of his New Zealand accent.Folks who come from Dunedin in the South Island have Scottish heritage and they speak with near perfect English accents(The ones I've met speak without the harsh 'sex' instead of 'six,') All the Australian actors in Hollywood speak with a correct Australian accent that does not drawl like most Australians. Ironically, I was trained by the same voice teacher as Cate, Bill Pepper who teaches the method by Englishwoman, Cicely Berry. Bill is also an Anglophile and his own accent sounds English. Many people ask me if I'm English, even so my accent is quite different from the lazy redneck drawl found in my region. The way Australian's pronounce things hardly varies over the entire continent.
Embeth is hot in that boyish figure kind of way. Cate is a beautiful person inside and out. I used to know her husband when he was eighteen. He has an incredible personality and I can see why she married him as opposed to marrying a Hollywood hottie. As she says 'we spoon in bed together well'.
