250? I see 328

328 titles in Mr Carradine's filmography as of june 2006. christopher lee has 70 something. less than 1/4 of Carradine, so what's with the bragging rights mr lee?

John Carradine did some of the worst dreck imagineable but I suppose he just did it to keep working. his good stuff was scarce but excellent.

so, can anyone on the entire IMDB top 328? and dont go on about 'bit parts' because ANYONE listed on IMDB will have ALL their 'bits' listed as well, so its a level playing field.

so, who did more than 328?

Of course there are several porn performers who have 1000+ films under their belt. IMDB lacks lots of porn films so their credits are very incomplete, but I'm more interested in non-adult acts here.

Can anyone top Milton Kibbee with 364 appearances?

Funny thing, I stumbled upon Milton about 5 minutes ago. :)

this sizeable body of work thing seems to run in the family.

his son Robert is 1 away from the 100 mark and his daughter, Ever Dawn, John's grandaughter, has 30+ already, starting at the age of 6 in 1980's 'young guns'.
Keith has just surpassed the 100 mark and David is almost at 200. what a remarkable family.

who says acting ability isnt hereditary?

as far as porn credits, shuffling the pages of the script and making another, ummm, hmmmm, stuck for a term here, porn films arent films in the original true sense, anyway insert (pun intended !!! LOL !!!) the term you prefer here, these do not constitute a new and unique presentation.

is it true the LA earthquake epicentre was right under the san fernando valley aka porn capital of usa?

If John acted in 500+ movies, you should do the good thing and update his IMDb credits accordingly - IMDb has actors with credits listed as 'scenes cut' or something like that.

But on IMDb terms John is not the top guy with most appearances yet. And that Kibbee dude I wrote about acted in minor parts in all those 328 movies, and almost all those appearances were uncredited in first place so who knows how many films he actually acted in...?

By the way, if voice acting counts here, then Mel Blanc beats everyone hands down with almost 900 films!

You need to take into consideration the fact that Keith, David and Robert were not just some unknown actors in Hollywood, because of their father's fame. I'm sure that once they decided to try acting their father could have pulled some strings to get them supporting parts in TV and movies.

I'm not saying that I dislike them, not at all! I actually like David's and Keith's screen presence a lot although their careers have fizzled for a long time since 70's and early 80's when they had some cult films and TV series. David had a brief resurrection in Kill Bill but has sunken back to mediocre films.

Lots of up and coming actors have this grande problem of getting publicity and thus a chance for films in film industry. Carradines, like Fondas or Barrymores had instant PR because of their patriarch's fame.

And as for Ever Carradine...
If you check the credits in Long Riders (which you surely meant with Young Guns), you'll find the three Carradine brothers playing the bandit brothers. She got her part because she's Robert's daughter, not because she was the best 6-year-old actress in Hollywood... Her career is also quite non-spectacular...

no, its still a remarkable family.

there are 10s of thousands of actors in the IMDB. how many FOUR in the same family, each having 100 to 300+ credits?

as far as Ever Carradine is concerned, if youre not happy then feel free to view tha accolades for her cousin Martha Plimpton here at IMDB.

still a remarkable family.

connections get the door open. talent and interest keeps them busy.

besides, John wasn't some bigshot mogul that could MAKE the producers put David et al in the film. just a reference.

I can cite LOTS of nth generation hollywood progeny that went nowhere. look up robert mitchum's kids.

the success of the Fondas proves my point; acting talent is hereditary.

reply

Acting talent hereditary? I don't think so. Your point about the Mitchum brothers contradicts your point already.

Henry Fonda is one of my favorite actors of all time, but I cannot say the same about Jane or Peter Fonda.

Whereas very bad and very good actors are easy to single out, some mediocre players like the Fonda siblings have been fortunate to work in some well-rememberd cult films, which have earned both of them some cult following. But I can name several Peter Fonda flicks that aren't worth anything.

I don't wish to undermine Keith or David Carradine's talents, I actually like them more than John who occasionally did some ghastly stuff and overacted in most films that I've seen him. (although overacting was the norm way back then)

John was a known workhorse with connections having acted for practically every film studio there was and in several blockbuster films, some of them my favorites. He wasn't a big cheese, I agree, but Ever Carradine's non-dialogue bit part in "Long Riders" is something an actor of his statute could easily pull off.

The facts speak for themselves. The Carradine's are a remarkable family, but that doesn't mean that Ever or Robert have been anything than mediocre.

It's not the quantity, but the quality that matters. A prime example is John Cazale who's every film is in the IMDb Top250. :-)
