Cate admitting turning down a huge role and regretting it

And wisely she does not want to tell. But that made me so curious. Lets play detectives people!

She has been pregnant 3 times and worked for the Sydney Company for 5 years. So I guess there are some baity roles that went to other actresses

I believe that the role in Closer was hard to turn down since the script was really good. Blanchett got to work with Patrick Marber in Notes on a Scandal though

Ugh, don't remind me... I love Closer and I think Cate would be great in it. Julia is very good too, but every time I watch it, I am reminded of a great role that Cate missed.

Also, I think she was first choice for Mr & Mrs Smith, that eventually went to Jolie? That would have been interesting!

Same here. Cate in Closer was missed opportunity. That's the only movie I feel sorry that she dropped out. Cate would be much better than Julia in that role. Cate, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen !

Fassbender - Mara - Blanchett

Well the reasonI brought up Closer is because it is the only role I know Blanchett really wanted but had to turn down due to pregnancy. But in the last 6 or 7 years I think Blanchett had to turn down a major role that went to another actress.

So between 2009 - 2015 Blanchett turn down a major role. So which is it, folks?

A Bigger Splash - Blanchett was the first choice and Swinton was casted instead

The Light Between Oceans - filmed in Tasmania and New Zealand. Rachel Weisz in the lead role

It's Osage County. Who would want to miss starring alongside the great Meryl Streep?

I love《CLOSER》, one of my favorite in 2004, it would have been so great to see her act along side Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen.

Julia Roberts is a decent actress, no offence, she's not Cate if you know what I mean.

She would have slayed in Closer. I've always imagined that scenario. I'd bet that's the role she means. It's right her alley, very theatre-ish.
