I am a bit late to the discussion because I only recently noticed this. I have to admit, season 8 is one of my favourites but I didnĀ“t like PrinzeĀ“s character in it much - also, I was afraid he would shoot his own leg because nobody told him how to hold a gun :) But anyway, I have been KieferĀ“s fan since 90s (teenage crush :) ) and I have to say, as many talented people, he has issues. However, from what I read even from stunt guys or just members of the crew on various sets (not just 24), he takes his job very seriously and is never, ever late. He introduces himself to everybody, is often first on the set, leaves last and when there are scenes with phonecalls, he even comes to read his lines behind the camera on his day off.
He drinks, yes, he "likes to party" but he never goes to work drunk. I think I heard he was late once because they were filming somewhere else and he couldnĀ“t find it.
As for Prinze not getting along with him...in every work, you have some people you just donĀ“t like for some reason. You just donĀ“t, without any good reason. It happens. So I guess thatĀ“s what happened here.
I remember reading an interview with Alexander Sidding (who I loved on Star Trek) and he said that he loved working with Kiefer because he was hard working and a very nice guy BUT that he had this habit to rewrite scripts at night and was able to learn his new lines very quickly. But, of course, the other actors didnĀ“t know so they had a little time to learn. It also seems that Kiefer likes to improvise and letĀ“s face it, by season 8, 24 was this well oiled machine where he could have done a lots of things because he was also a producer. So maybe Prinze had problems to keep up and was a bit annoyed by it (which is understandable).
I just think it is very rude and unprofessional to bring it up like five years after they moved on to other things. It is like talking about a problem with food in a restaurant you visited years ago, telling the manager now when he can do notning about it.
I have nothing personal against Prinze, I donĀ“t think I have ever seen anything with him other than the one season of "24", so I have no impression of him but this seemed really weird and ridiculous (unless he was joking and it got lost in translation somewhere)
