Ridley Scott: Identify his visual trademarks and style

So I've been studying his films recently in search of Scott's trademarks.

How would you define his style? What makes him unique? How can you identify its a Ridley Scott film when you got such a diverse body of work? We're talking about a guy that directed Alien, Gladiator, Hannibal and The Counsellor. What's the common thread?

Any ideas?

Well, EVERYONE copied his visual style in the original BLADE RUNNER.

Even very famous directors said that.

Alex Proyas said he always copied the BLADE RUNNER visual style. The same with David Fincher and Christopher Nolan.

Everyone copied ALIEN and GLADIATOR too. Even BLACK HAWK DOWN.

In visual terms, his most copied movies are ALIEN, BLADE RUNNER, GLADIATOR, BLACK HAWK DOWN and PROMETHEUS(3D).

SIR RIDLEY SCOTT, CREED, MICHAEL BAY, ZACK SNYDER, DAVID AYER, etc....
