... like, say, for instance, he wanted to sign his autobiography and memoirs, will he be getting the kind of reputation that say Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister, got in September 2010 in Dublin when he was promoting "A Journey" at Eason book shop, although instead of war criminal, protesters would jeer and chant "Child molester" and the like. Right?
Bet money he's never going to step foot out of France ever again. He's probably learned his lesson from two/three years ago when he was almost extradited.
Yeah, but say he were OR if he were even to do it in France, would there be protests like they were with Tony Blair (just one example) in 2010 in Dublin (in case you don't know, many believe that for the 2003 invasion of Iraq with George W. Bush he is a war criminal) or would people approach him calmly and understandably to receive signed copies? As an example?
It was the ADULTS who mostly protested Tony Blair's visit to Dublin for him to sign copies of his autobiography. One of the gentlemen loudly criticizing his presence was the at the time 43-year-old Irish anti war activist Richard Boyd-Barrett.
You haven't read the case nor the circumstances. I suggest you do and you'll become a lot more sympathetic to the guy (and for the right moral reasons)
"You haven't read the case nor the circumstances."
I've read the case and the circumstances. He admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old girl, which is, by definition, rape. And according to the girl, he gave her alcohol and drugs, and anally raped her.
And when it came to his sentencing hearing, he knew he was going to go to jail, so he skipped the country.
I presented the facts. On the other hand, you're just blathering about something you know nothing about.
From Polanski's own autobiography:
“We dried ourselves and each other. She said she was feeling better. Then, very gently, I began to kiss and caress her. After this had gone on for some time, I led her over to the couch. There was no doubt about her experience and lack of inhibition. She spread herself and I entered her. She wasn’t unresponsive.”
That's Polanski, admitting he had sex with a 13-year-old. That's rape.
As part of a plea bargain, Polanski had to report to a state prison for a 90-day psychiatric evaluation. He was released after 42 days. The judge was not satisfied with the psychiatric evaluation, calling it a 'whitewash'. He then informed Polanski's attorney that he didn't intend to follow the terms of the plea bargain, which called for only probation. (Which is not out of the ordinary - judges have to approve all plea bargains.) Polanski then fled the country.
Also, look up 2017 Polanski protests, they already happened, some feminist women even took their clothes off and wrote how Polanski is a criminal child molester etc.
Most Europeans aren't idiots like in the US. They aren't going to shout down a legendary film director for something that occurred 1/2 century ago, that he served time for, and that he was forced to leave the US forever due to a Fascist judge. Anyway the victim dropped the charge years ago.
But here in the US there are Me Too Morons who shout down celebrities because of (usually false) allegations from 1/2 century ago. And this so-called movement has anti-semitic overtones. Most of the cancelled celebrities are Jews.
