Sean Penn says straight actors being barred from queer roles is ‘a timid and artless policy’


I've always said that few people can be wrong 100% of the time, but in Penn's case, perhaps his being on the rare right side of an issue isn't from his sense of morality but more that it might affect his wallet.

If only gay people can take gay roles, that reduces roles that are available to straight actors, even if the amount of roles is small.

But hey, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he's just making sense.

If only homosexual actors can have homosexual roles, then it follows logically that only heterosexual actors can have heterosexual roles. That's going to be career-wrecking for homosexual actors.
