He's just like that other hypocrite Anthony Hopkins, who, despite playing Hannibal Lector, is against cannibalism. The nerve of these people.
Where is the comparison?
Hannibal Lector is portrayed as a contemptible human being, and his cannibalism horrifying disgusting. When people see those SOTL movies, people are revolted by him and cannibalism. The films don't glamorize him or his activities.
Neeson's characters are portrayed as upstanding heroes whose gun violence is depicted as cool and heroic. When people see his films, they are not revolted by him; they see him as admirable and guns a cool, appropriate solution to resolving issues.
So yes, Neeson IS a hypocrite if he's anti-gun because it's movies like his--which glamorize gunplay--that are contributing to America's fascination with guns. If he really hates gun violence, he should actually do a movie about how guns can ruin lives rather than keep doing these types of movies where he gets to be the cool badass blowing people away as if in a video game.
