Typical, left-wing egotist

What is it about actors? They seem to think that we should all be interested in their politics - simply because, at one time or other, they have been in the spotlight. Because their face has been on the big screen, well, that makes them experts on all national issues. And they will use any national exposure to tell you what they believe and how those who disagree with them are need to listen.

Modine found the time to appear on the "OReilly Factor" to tell us how he is a liberal. Yawn. And how he is now handing out cards that say "card-carrying liberal". And, to him, that is extremely important. He didn't say a word about his next film or his acting career - no, it was all about politics.

What Modine and his ilk just don't get is most Americans, and everybody else, don't need to hear a political speech from every two-bit actor. We can access our political needs from many sources - TV talk shows, radio, newspapers, magazines, the Internet, our local political offices and at candidates' rallies. What we need from our entertainers is relief from the drudgery of politics, sometimes. They just can't grasp how we don't need political speech 24/7, and that we do need entertainment to "take us away" from it all.

Bob Hope, where are you?

I don't hate his politics; I hate when ignorant people get on TV and tell people who actually went to college and got advanced degrees how to evaluate our cultures. Most actors barely have a high school education and ironically, the most educated actors (Tommy Lee Jones went to Harvard, etc) rarely talk crazy politics in public. It's always so embarrassing (because I am somewhat lefty) to see poorly educated celebrities shilling their unenlightened political views and think we give a rat's behind because they are famous. When you get that post doc in public policy or a Genius Award then take your sorry a## on TV and drop science. Otherwise isn't there a Fluke sequel Modine needs to finish shooting?

I am a crazy lefty, but I wholeheartedly agree with what others have written. I hope people in hell won't need sweaters.
