I met him
Back in the late '80s, I met Andrew McCarthy....I lived (then & now) in Kentucky. He was in the Covington area shooting "Fresh Horses".
What I've got to say about him is this: WHAT AN AWESOME GUY. He was extremely friendly, gave his autograph to anyone who asked, took photos with everyone who asked, talked at length with people (like he'd known them for years) and even went out to lunch with a couple of us. Molly Ringwald, on the other hand, apparently thought we were beneath her, and was ugly and rude (when she didn't hide her ass in her trailer) to everyone. She even stopped film production numerous times because she was terrified the cold weather would make her freakin' nose look red on film! Andrew never bitched once about the weather, or anything else. He was truly one of the nicest celebrities I have ever met.
I currently work with the KY Film Commission and have met numerous celebrities over the years, and none have come close to Andrew McCarthy. Say what you want about his appearance...(I personally think he's excessively easy on the eyes...how superficial and shallow ARE you people, anyway?!?) He is by far one of the most down-to-earth, genuine people I have ever met in this business.
