I met him

Back in the late '80s, I met Andrew McCarthy....I lived (then & now) in Kentucky. He was in the Covington area shooting "Fresh Horses".

What I've got to say about him is this: WHAT AN AWESOME GUY. He was extremely friendly, gave his autograph to anyone who asked, took photos with everyone who asked, talked at length with people (like he'd known them for years) and even went out to lunch with a couple of us. Molly Ringwald, on the other hand, apparently thought we were beneath her, and was ugly and rude (when she didn't hide her ass in her trailer) to everyone. She even stopped film production numerous times because she was terrified the cold weather would make her freakin' nose look red on film! Andrew never bitched once about the weather, or anything else. He was truly one of the nicest celebrities I have ever met.

I currently work with the KY Film Commission and have met numerous celebrities over the years, and none have come close to Andrew McCarthy. Say what you want about his appearance...(I personally think he's excessively easy on the eyes...how superficial and shallow ARE you people, anyway?!?) He is by far one of the most down-to-earth, genuine people I have ever met in this business.

Thank you so much for sharing. People are rather immature and stupid about him. I happen to think he horny hot looking (sorry, I didn't know how else to describe it), and it's nice to know that he's so wonderfully nice as well.

What a nice post, I'm so glad to hear things like this in our world of horrible celebs. Thanks for sharing that.

No problem. I was just perusing the boards here and was really turned off by the rude comments about the man when I knew first-hand what an incredibly cool guy he is.

Orlando Bloom is also a pleasant young man (he was here filming "Elizabethtown" a few years back)...but like I stated in the post above, no one's come close to topping Andrew McCarthy yet.

How kewl to have met him. I have been in love with him since Class. Pretty in Pink, I am not afraid to admit, is my alltime favorite movie. I haven't been blessed with children, but have had Andrew picked out ever since I fell for this Andrew. :-) I am glad to hear that he is nice.

I just wish Fresh Horses would have captured the same chemistry as Pretty in Pink. It was shocking to see how little chemistry they had in that compared to PiP.

I think he still looks good. Yum. As my aunt used to say "he can park his boots under my bed anytime."
