Acts Retarded

She always plays her characters as slow, dim-witted retards. It must be an annoying stereotype for her to play, if that's what the directors all demand from her, as I think she's probably quite intelligent and professional in real life.
She's like a younger, female, Jim Broadbent - always plays a mong.

Especially in "the other sister"

I don't think she has a problem with portraying white trash. She does it like no other and I love her for it. Some of my favourite movies would be much less favourite without her, and I'm always pleasantly surprised to see her in some direct-to-video 'masterpiece'.

I sort of feel the same about Michael Madsen.

Check out Secrets and Lies

She played three roles written as naive, mentally challenged or dimwitted characters. All of which were superbly done. That's hardly all of her roles. Furthermore, if that's who/what the character is...how else should she act the part? Johnny Depp has played multiple roles where he was some sort of retard/reject. The point is, you work with the scripts you're given if it interest you as an actor.

I really enjoy her in 'Secrets and Lies.'

reply

Naahhh. Not without a reason to. (Psssttt...a quick reason to woulda' helped.)

Sometimes you gotta wonder...... 

reply

At least you have the intelligence to recognize your stereotyping of retarded people.

reply

I agree especially in Cape Fear. I seriously thought she was on drug while filming that movie.
