What really went down between him and Molly Ringwald all those years ago?

He's said that he wrote Sixteen Candles with a photo of her above his keyboard as inspiration. He's also said that he wrote Pretty in Pink specifically for her, and that he wouldn't sell the script unless she was cast as Andi.

Hughes was a legendary grudge keeper. Something about his dysfunctional childhood, he couldn't accept any type of abandonment and/or failure.
