I always thought he had a bit of a goofy face and a mop of curly hair. The 80s had a different standard for attractive, it seems. Not that he was ugly, just not what most people think of when they think "hunk".
shareI remember reading a comment somewhere that suggested that Steve Guttenberg was sort of the Paul Rudd of his heyday. What I mean by that is that his main appeal arguably, was that he was a good looking (but not so good looking that he lost his relatable, "everyman" vibe) if slightly goofy but otherwise, seemingly non-threatening guy.

Yes, either Paul Rudd or Tom Hanks. At one point Guttenberg was quite lean and probably looked better than Hanks, but not as good looking or charismatic as Paul Rudd. It's kinda weird he didn't have a bigger career..heck he completely disappeared by 1990!
