Do you believe this? - CG on BTTF1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofSL9jbFDJg

Crispin states during this Rolling stones interview that he has only seen BTTF - once when it was released.

I see this as a deliberate act to distance himself from the feature.

Is this true?

I don't think Crispin's trying to distance himself from Back to the Future, per sey.... a lot of actors, like Johnny Depp and Robert Redford, don't watch their movies.

For an example of someone who IS trying to distance himself from BTTF, I have two words for you: Tom Wilson. There's no confusion that he wants to put the trilogy behind him, sadly.

How is he trying to distance himself when he is constantly introducing himself as the actor who portrayed Biff in BTTF?

reply

I know, introducing himself right off the bat as Biff seems a little counter-productive to distancing himself.

That being said, here's a quote from his blog: "I've decided to do what I want to do in life, so I no longer support any kind of nostalgia in which I'm marginalized as a pop-culture icon of yesteryear"... And I might add Tom refuses to sign Back to the Future memorabilia anymore. :( I think I get where he's coming from, but I don't agree with it. His decision is quite a shame, as I've met several of the BTTF cast and crew who fully embrace the trilogy and people's love for it. Either way, it leaves me scratching my head... what's so wrong with Biff?? If only he would stop and consider that he was a part of something very special and people love what he created.

Then again, if he truly wanted to distance himself and be known as a stand-up comedian for example, he really should consider just not even mentioning it. It's the first thing out of his mouth, he does the lines... but that's it. It's like he's teasing us.

And, uh, he's doing his standup show at the Brea Improv tomorrow night if you're interested.

Maybe he's going through his "I am not Spock" phase that Shatner and Nimoy went through -- trying to distance themselves from their mainstream roles while trying to do something else. Eventually they stopped fighting it and embraced it.

Let's hope! :)

crispin introducing himself as biff OK there is something wrong about that statement.

OK first of all crispin never played biff. crispin played George Mcfly. flea from the red hot chili peppers played biff. how can you mixed that up they are completely different character and the actors look nothing alike.second of all crispin never mentions back to the future unless someone questions about it.
