Crispin has never smoked marijuana

... according to an interview.

Anyone else find this incredibly inspiring? These days it seems like everyone smokes and you're lame if you don't. But here's Crispin, one of the most intelligent and creative people around, doing just fine in his life without it!

That is very inspiring! It should be. Crispin Glover is my favorite actor. I regret doing all the drugs I've done, especially speed and heroin. You really don't have to do drugs to be creative, obviously.

Well, we know that he has used and enjoyed absinthe in the past. Some say he was on LSD for the infamous Letterman appearance in what would become the Rubin Farr outfit.

He got drunk with Juliette Lewis on some show about Juliette going to Crispin's castle.

I don't think he was on LSD that day. I think he was sober and acting, but if he was on any drug, I'd guess it was speed, which is what his character in River's Edge was addicted to.

Well the story I read is that he took two tabs of acid 45 minutes before going on the show, so he was coming up right then and there. It's an interesting theory, true or not. It's a mystery though, and that's how he wants it to be known.

Still... one can never tell. Is he acting or is it "real"? Who isn't acting? What is it?

When I met him, I asked about that appearance. He claimed he was completely sober, and did it largely as a joke/piece of performance art. Though he didn't tell Letterman beforehand, which wasn't appreciated.
He says that he doesn't like to talk about it in Public because he likes the different rumors that are created and thinks they're beneficial to his persona. He said that he never was really into drugs though, and it wasn't the case that day.

I don't know if I'd call it inspiring, as much as I'd call it admirable, perhaps it's a bit of both.

So many rumors about his infamous Letterman appearance (and his follow up interview which I find even better. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it: http://youtu.be/ws0Xjr58ImY) and the most consistent of which being that he was on acid. That always bugged me. People nowadays are so quick to label anything bizarre or weird as "that dude must've been high" rather than look at it as a someone putting on a performance of sorts. He was simply trying to build intrigue and get a reaction out of people, much like he does with his music and films.

I never pictured him as a drug user anyway. He always comes off like an intelligent straight-laced man who strives to get people talking.

FULCI LIVES

To clear the air...

1) He was in character, not frying.

2) Absynthe being any sort of drug is a MYTH. Believe that. And not any of your friends that thought they were any more f-ed up than normal. Look it up.
