Why couldn't Teri Garr find a classic TV role that matched her quirky persona?

I mean, you could argue that Teri Garr was Lisa Kudrow before Lisa Kudrow. That's why casting her as Phoebe's mom on Friends felt like such brilliant and inspired casting. But as the article I'm about to share says, that was after her "prime" period (when her health was starting to go into decline so to speak):

She has MS and her health has declined.

You know, that's a good point. Off the top of my head, I can't recall a 60s or 70s TV role that she could have been plugged in to, but she did have *something*.
