Doesn't she look a lot like Meryl Streep?

She wasn't mimicking Meryl Streep. She studied acting at the London Academy and spent close to 15 years living and working in England, including the Royal Shakesphere Company, where she said she picked up a British accent. She also lived with her parents for years before then and her mother is British. When she came back to live in the US after she got married, her American accent, if you want to call it an accent, returned. Simple as that. Her first Tony win in 2000 for lead actress, her accent was still British.

I would say she resembles Streep but if you have seen pictures of her mother Rosemary Harris, there is also a very strong resemblance. I'd say the physical similarities to Streep is in the cheekbones and longer neck, but then her mom has those same qualities. I do think in some ways she and Streep are similar in that they both have very expressive and intelligent eyes. I always prefer her in roles where she can exhibit wit and intelligence in a character, because that's what shines through from her naturally.
