Um yeah, no.

Considering she had a very successful career(Academy Award, Bafta, Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for herself, starred in several best picture nominees, starred in one of the most successful cult films of all time) 15 year long career before she even met him, I'd say yes, she would have definitely still been a working actress:D. She started acting professionally when she was a teenager. Her first film role was as the lead in A Room With A View. Back then Burton was still a struggling Disney animator whose life was going nowhere. She's one of the most respected actresses in England now. Whoever told you otherwise is either an idiot or just doesn't know much about British film history, or even film history in general.

If her career was only thanks to her husband, she would not be credited with 70 titles on her IMDB page. She would also not have 3 different non-Burton films in development, she probably wouldn't have gotten a role in Harry Potter(which casts only the most respected British actors in their adult roles) and she most definitely would not be getting a special Brittania Award later this year, nor would she gotten a lifetime achievement award from the British Independent Film Awards last year.

So in answer to your original question, no, it is most definitely not true.

Thankyou for answering my question. It's just that this is what I've been told about her. I'm glad it's not true. I didn't really know much about her personal life. I think she's an interesting actress and am interested in learning more about her.

She's also part royal and a relative of the Rothschild's, extremely interesting woman.

"Back then Burton was still a struggling Disney animator whose life was going nowhere. "

Excuse me? He wanted to be animator, that's why he started working for Disney. Turned out it wasn't his thing after all, but at that point he was very lucky to get a job there.
Also, in what way his life was going nowhere? At the age of 19-24 or something like that, almost no one is succesful. Some Hollywood actors may be, but so what. There's a huge difference between directors and actors, you know. Directors need to work much more than actors to reach something.
Burton's life has always been going somewhere, just like a normal person's. He has always been veru lucky what comes to movies.

Wow. Calm down I just meant that his life wasn't going in the way he wanted. Get over it. What's your problem.
