It was a Gatling Gun, which is historically accurate since they have been around since the 1850s.
He got of several hundred rounds before he realized it was loaded with real bullets, very sad and extremly unlucky.
Baldwin went all "Wild Bunch" on the crew! (However, Gatling guns were not around since the 1850s. First one was patented in 1862.)
