The Sound of Music would have been a great success if Margaret Rutherford was the star, it was a big Rogers and Hammerstein musical, alright i know i am pressing it saying Miss Rutherford, but you know what i mean, the box office takings were due to the film not the stars, and you can reverse that and say the box office takings for Marilyn Monroe's films were because of her and not her mediocre films

It is interesting how she's such a huge star, based primarily on about two years of great success in the mid '60s, followed fifteen years later by "Victor-Victoria", which is now nearly forty years in the past.

Should have also starred in Camelot and Oliver!
