Too much competition in the genre, even his own films were waging battle with each other for limelight, e.g. Time-cop and Street fighter. You wouldn't think on paper they'd conflict, although for every role he's played he doesn't always show depth. Then, I forget the circumstances, but not appearing in the Kickboxer sequels (which could of been his biggest role) meant his replacement would get the longer standing.
