His posters have lame art

Anyone else think that the majority of QT's filmography has really lame posters and cover art? Maybe no one really cares, but QT is this big perserveyer of film and is all about the old school art of filmmaking. Why do most of his posters just have the actors standing around?

Django Unchained, Inglorious Basterds, Jackie Brown, all lame, just people standing around or walking toward the camera. Pulp Fiction, I get the idea for that poster and I give it a pass. Kill Bill is just Uma Therman standing with a sword. You'd think his posters would be badass as hell, but they're always just so boring. OUAIH is his best theatrical poster, and I don't get why it took his 9th film to have a good one.

QT is always such a stigler about films being done "the old fashioned way" and those old school movie posters were a huge part of 70's cinema. Why do all of his movies have boring ass contemporary posters? SURELY Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds warranted something cooler than the actor just posing in front of a white background. BORING.

I think this one is great.

It's a great poster, maybe the OP is not a heterosexual male.

It's not bad, one of his better ones. Although posters go a lot deeper than having sexy sillouhettes. If that were the case then basically every "best movie posters OAT" list should be entirely made up of porn cover art.

There IS the car in the foreground that’s used to murder and terrorize the females on the horizon. Those headlights are the last thing some of them see. Look at the gorgeous font and the cool style of the artwork. It’s the perfect poster for the film.

I agree. My comment was aimed toward the guy who accused me of being gay because I wasn't automatically swooned by the women at the top of the poster.

reply

Ok. I was getting worried for a second. J/k 😀

Not really done in a modern style though, is it? Most of his posters are kind of bland, though, I agree with the OP.

reply

I think you’re right, it’s not done in a modern style at all. That’s what I like about it.

reply

Yeah, it's surprising that most of his posters are done in a pretty boring, contemporary style. It took until once upon a time for him to have a movie with a poster done in a retro style like that. Pulp Fiction got a really good poster, but it didn't really look like movie poster, more like a book cover. Fit the movie perfectly, though.

Death Proof is fantastic! so is Kill Bill, and the rest

Agreed! I have that Death Proof poster framed and on my wall. 👍
