I can't stand his overrated gangster movies.
I tend to agree. His gangster movies are definitely well-made, some are brilliant, but there have been too many of them. I often find Scorsese more interesting when he branches out, whether to something like Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, or Kundun, or The Age of Innocence, to name just a few.

shareI saw Taxi Driver in the theater and it had a powerful impact on me, but I'm not in any real hurry to repeat the experience decades later. Alice, on the other hand, is warm & wise & earns its positive ending. It's one that I can & have re-watched over those decades.
