shareI think Sandra B. will be the exception. She seems to be totally in control of the films she makes and, more importantly, keeps making enough good choices. Also, judging from the outtakes we see on DVDs and her appearence at the razzies, she seems to not take herself too seriously and people want to work with her.
shareWith the exception of Bird Box (2018), Sandra is doing fine for herself.
As for Meg Ryan, her complexion probably has a lot to do with not being able to land huge roles. She just doesn't have that sweet girl next door look anymore. Not really good for romantic comedies.

Her forte was romcoms. After a while, any actress ages out of those kinds of roles. She attempted to be taken more seriously with movies like "Courage Under Fire" and "In The Cut" but it didn't work. In the former she played a tough, "butch", foul mouthed female soldier and it was ridiculous. In the latter she gets nude and has her ass eaten out by Mark Ruffalo. I suppose she thought more "mature" roles like that would make people take her more seriously, but that movie sucked big time. And the blatant Russell Crowe affair ruined her cutesy pie America's Sweetheart image for good. And of course the plastic surgery obliterated her face and made her look like the Joker. I think all that sums everything up; age and bad choices.share
The movie that ended Meg Ryan’s career

Ryan seemed to disappear from movie screens in an instant and in a recent interview with New York Times Magazine, the former America’s sweetheart said a single role as a schoolteacher in a racy R-rated film was enough to end her career.share

Oh she fine
shareBecause u didn't bother to show up.
shareMeg could certainly be a supporting actress if she wanted to be. Even having lost her looks, she's a big name. I must assume she'd rather be an ex-movie star than a working small part actress.
sharebecause she's unrecognizable after so much plastic surgery!
shareshe just wasnt that good an actress. and when your entire shtick is the "cute girl in rom coms". and you have no actual discernible talent to fall back on after, well poof there gos your career.
look at the actresses above 40 who last. they all have talent. if not they play some background role like "the mom"
You can make that “in the last 11 years, OP.
shareThe Real Reason Meg Ryan Didn't Return For "Top Gun: Maverick" (SPOILERS)
https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/real-reason-meg-ryan-didnt-213250904.htmlshare
"Top Gun: Maverick" leans on nostalgia for the original '80s action fave, writing a new chapter of the high-flying story while also bringing back some of the stars of the original movie, like Tom Cruise in the title role and Val Kilmer's Iceman. There are definitely a few familiar faces who are missing, including Meg Ryan, who played Carole Bradshaw in the first "Top Gun." Since Carole and Goose's son Rooster is one of the main characters in the sequel, it seems a little odd that she's not in the movie, but the plot does offer a brief explanation.
