Spickler isn't always a Jewish name even though Rogers' father is Jewish:

And, by birth, Mimi Rogers is not Jewish because her mother was Episcopalian. In Judaism, it's the religion of one's mother, not father, that determines one's birth religion.

Putting aside ethnicity (which I question re Judaism), I'm not sure why people would assume or suspect Rogers was Jewish. It's a religion, after all. Anyone can convert.

What interests me more are Rogers's reasons for leaving Scientology, since she was active in the Church for so long. She seems not to have spoken about her departure publicly.

Also: Rogers's first husband was a Scientologist, and Cruise, her second husband, converted shortly after he met Rogers. It isn't often that the second husband defers to the religion of the first -- especially not a man as prone to public muscle-flexing as Cruise.
