Paradoxical image as a Goth?

Wasn't there a time when Christina was viewed as being somewhat of a Goth? The thing is I never heard about her identifying with that culture and can't even recall her playing one enough times for others to think of her as that. So where did this misconception of her come from? And can I just say, Great actress.

Trends changed overall. "Goth" became a genericized term for anyone dressing a certain way and the people who hung around them, and the music they liked. In the late '90s in my area, a lot of those kids hung out at Barnes and Noble, which went along with the premium chain coffee shop being kind of a new thing that was spreading across the country.
