Despite being a sought-after Hollywood star, Michelle Pfeiffer manages to fly mostly under the radar. Fiercely private, yet totally captivating onscreen and in person, she invites a certain intrigue that makes you wish you knew more about her. And although she tends to stay pretty buttoned up on matters both personal and professional, this much is evident — Pfeiffer has come a long way since her first role in the 1979 TV series Delta House as "the bombshell." because they have talent, and are even artists sometimes.

And because they're actors and not Reality TV stars, and don't want to overexpose themselves or lose their ability to vanish into a role.

Look at Angelina Jolie, who is infinitely more known for her private life than her acting. Can you look at her in a movie and think of her as a character, and not as Angelina Fucking Jolie?

I think there is a difference between "show business" and "become an actor". I could do neither but I've read quite a few autobiographies and a surprising number of actors are not public people. Personally I think that's OK but the news papers and magazines seem to take it as a personal affront and adopt the approach that if you're not with us - we're against you.

She comes from a class where people were judged by talent and hard work and not by sham gossip and no talent, no sacrifice, and party, party, party. Where all your friends backstab you for a page of the week. In her era everything was kept omerta private even to the point people got killed.

I guess that would explain why she looks so uncomfortable in the photos with her agent - Ed Limato (who had mafia connections): https://popcultmaster.com/2023/01/09/the-hiatus/

As for interviews, she gave a fairly extensive one for the 1996 Women in Hollywood edition of Premiere where she talked about her children. At one point in the interview, she clams up when talking about Showgirls - it's kind of implied that Paul Verhoeven wanted her to be in the movie.
